Caching Content
Caching content to store playlist content on local devices
TelemetryOS Media Player Application utilizes caching to store playlist content on local devices, ensuring seamless viewing experience. This caching system operates through several key mechanisms that optimize content delivery and playback performance.
Content Caching Process
The Media Player employs dynamic caching approach that stores content as it plays, requiring active internet connection during the caching process. Rather than pre-caching content before playback begins, the system caches each piece of content while being played and automatically moves on to cache the next item in the playlist sequence.
Storage Capacity and Management
Cache size available to each device depends entirely on individual device storage capacity. When cache reaches maximum capacity, the system implements automatic management process where new content overwrites oldest cached content, ensuring continuous operation without manual intervention.
Device cache status monitoring occurs through debug mode while TelemetryOS Media Player runs. Debug mode activation occurs by pressing ESC on connected keyboard or selecting Bug icon within TelemetryOS account interface under Devices > Select Device. Debug mode displays detailed information about cache size, cache limits, and manual cache clearing option.
Cache Retention and Lifecycle
TelemetryOS Media Player maintains cached items on devices for 30-day period. After retention period expiration, older items automatically evict from cache and re-download when needed again. System prioritizes caching new content and systematically replaces oldest cached content when storage space becomes limited.
Playlist Management and Cache Efficiency
Device playlist configuration changes demonstrate intelligent cache management by reusing existing cached media files shared between previous and new playlists. Same images or videos existing in both playlists within same account avoid unnecessary re-downloading and leverage existing cache, unless cache manual clearing occurs before playlist transition.
Monitoring and Reporting Features
TelemetryOS provides comprehensive cache monitoring capabilities through several integrated features. Device interface displays detailed cache quota information and usage breakdowns, enabling understanding of both content currently cached and overall cache utilization on devices.
System tracks cache eviction events, recording timestamps and generating warnings when content removal from cache occurs. Frequent cache evictions typically indicate playlist content volume exceeds device available cache quota, alerting to potential capacity constraints.
Application incorporates detailed caching logs documenting when cached content playback occurs on devices. Logs include comprehensive information about cache eviction events and related warnings, providing administrators with visibility into caching system performance and behavior.
Through these integrated caching mechanisms, TelemetryOS Media Player ensures uninterrupted playback and delivers efficient content distribution across all connected devices.
