Supported Formats

All of the supported media formats for TelemetryOS

TelemetryOS media manager supports various media types to meet digital signage requirements. The platform accommodates different file formats while maintaining quality and performance across displays.

Images

The platform supports GIFs, PNGs, and JPEGs in both animated and static versions. When working with images, ensuring they match the resolution of target displays is crucial for optimal presentation. The system may scale images to fit the screen, making it essential to optimize images for the intended display resolution. TelemetryOS documentation details image optimization techniques to achieve the best visual results.

The maximum size for each image is 20MB.

Other File Types Converted to Images

TelemetryOS accepts additional file types including PDF, SVG, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel documents. The system automatically converts these files to images for storage and device display. When processing multi-page documents, each page becomes a separate image that gets bundled together as a single media object within the interface for seamless management of complex documents.

The maximum size for each file converted to an image through CloudConvert is 10MB.

Videos

Video support encompasses MP4 and WEBM formats directly, accommodating files up to 1GB in size. The platform processes these video formats without requiring conversion for immediate playlist integration. Screen size and resolution considerations remain important when preparing videos, as the system scales content to fit displays. When video resolution doesn't align with screen dimensions, black bars may appear around the content. TelemetryOS details comprehensive guidance on video optimization to achieve optimal display results.

The maximum size for each video is 1GB.

🚧

Videos are complicated

Video encoding options offer nearly unlimited variety. Testing encoding is essential, as parameters may require adjustment and various options need testing when encoding videos. Not all options will work with TelemetryOS. Typically if it works in a browser it'll work with TelemetryOS.

Video Audio

Browser autoplay policies create specific challenges for videos containing audio content. These policies may prevent proper preview functionality, and certain Chrome versions may refuse to play audio-enabled videos entirely. Google imposes these limitations on autoplaying videos with audio content, affecting how your content displays across different platforms.

Testing videos with audio on target devices and browsers ensures compatibility and proper playback performance. This verification process helps identify potential issues before deploying content to your digital signage network.

Understanding these supported media types and implementing appropriate formatting and optimization practices enables effective management and display of visual content through TelemetryOS's media manager, ensuring your digital signage delivers the intended experience across all deployments.
