Starting Up

TelemetryOS's Purpose Built Operating System

This guide covers getting a TelemetryOS Edge device online quickly and safely.

Provisioning Options

TelemetryOS Edge supports two provisioning approaches. Device-level provisioning configures network, time zone, screen layout, and security directly on the device. Token-based provisioning pre-configures Wi-Fi, time zone, display options, proxy, and settings password before activation, enabling zero-touch deployments at scale.

See the full Checklist for Customers Using TelemetryOS Edge for details.

Security and Management Defaults

The OS ships locked down with logging and health metrics enabled out of the box. Updates are delivered through controlled maintenance windows to minimize disruption.

🔐

Use a settings password and WPA2‑Enterprise where required by policy.

Performance

The playback pipeline is optimized with non-essential background services removed. Deterministic content caching with staged downloads ensures reliable offline playback.

Hardware

The recommended hardware is the Node Pro, which ships with TelemetryOS Edge pre-installed and is the supported hardware option with the TOS Player runtime.

Next Steps

  1. Power on the device and connect networking (Ethernet or Wi‑Fi).
  2. Apply provisioning token or configure settings locally.
  3. Pair the device to the TelemetryOS account and start publishing content.
