Organizing Devices

Hierarchical device organization structure in TelemetryOS for managing media player devices

TelemetryOS organizes media player devices using a hierarchical structure that supports manual creation or syncing with Google's Chrome Device Management (CDM) account. The system supports up to three levels of nested organizations, enabling structured device management based on custom taxonomies.

Organization Structure

TelemetryOS device organizations follow a hierarchical model with three supported nesting levels:

  • Level 1 Organization (Root)
  • Level 2 Organization (Sub-organization)
  • Level 3 Organization (Nested sub-organization)

Organization Levels

The system supports up to 3 levels of nesting/sub folders for device organizations.

Organization Creation and Management

Device organizations support both manual creation and synchronization with Google Chrome Device Management (CDM) organizational structures. Manual organization creation enables custom taxonomies independent of CDM structure, while CDM synchronization automatically mirrors existing Chrome device organizational hierarchies.

Each organization requires a name identifier and supports optional descriptive metadata. Organizations can be nested within parent organizations up to three levels deep, creating flexible hierarchical structures that match physical locations, business units, or custom classification schemes.

Organization Benefits

Device Structuring

Organizations group devices based on custom taxonomies such as location, building, or business unit. This structure simplifies display and content management across the device fleet.

Playlist Distribution

Organization-based device filtering enables batch content operations where playlists can be assigned to entire organizations rather than individual devices. This bulk assignment capability supports efficient content deployment across device groups, with multi-device selection enabling simultaneous playlist application to filtered subsets of organizational devices.

Access Control

User groups interface controls permissions at the organization level, restricting access to specific device organizations for designated user groups.

Override Management

Screen overrides distribute to specific device organizations, enabling targeted display of important messages or alerts on designated devices.

Organizations enhance flexibility and efficiency in TelemetryOS media player device management, streamlining operations and content delivery across the fleet.
