# Node Mini
The **Node Mini** is a compact, cost-effective digital signage media player offered exclusively for TelemetryOS, designed for single-display deployments where simplicity and value are priorities. It ships as a fully locked-down appliance with the **TelemetryOS launcher** pre-installed and is engineered for reliable 24/7 operation in a fanless form factor.
Whether you're deploying menu boards at a quick-service restaurant or meeting room signs across a corporate campus, the Node Mini delivers plug-and-play simplicity with the same TelemetryOS platform management, offline caching, and remote control available on Node Pro.
## Ready to Deploy
Each Node Mini device ships pre-loaded with the **TelemetryOS launcher**. Connect it to power and a display, then provision it using a **USB provisioning key** generated from Studio. The provisioning key binds the device to the correct TelemetryOS account and applies network and configuration settings, enabling efficient large-scale rollouts with minimal on-site effort.
## Hardware
The Node Mini is built around the **Rockchip RK3568** system-on-chip — a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz paired with a **Mali-G52 2EE GPU**. This combination delivers smooth 4K video playback and responsive application rendering while maintaining low power consumption. The device includes **4 GB DDR4 RAM** and **32 GB eMMC storage**, providing sufficient capacity for content caching and offline playback.
## Concurrent Video Playback
Node Mini's hardware video decoder supports **up to two 1080p60 videos playing simultaneously** (for split-screen or multi-zone layouts on its single display), **or one 4K30 video** full-screen. This is the hardware-decode envelope of the RK3568; workloads that exceed it (for example, three or more 1080p streams, or 4K60 video) fall back to software decode and will drop frames. For fleets that need multiple simultaneous 4K60 streams or more than two concurrent HD streams, deploy [Node Pro](node-pro.md) instead.
## Hardened and Secure
The Node Mini operates as a **fully locked-down appliance** — there is no user access to the underlying operating system, home screen, or device settings outside of TelemetryOS. Security controls include:
* **Kiosk-mode lockdown** preventing end-user access to any OS-level functionality
* **OTA updates** delivering security patches and platform improvements remotely
* **Encrypted communications** with the TelemetryOS cloud platform
* **SAML-based authentication**, **role-based access control (RBAC)**, and **audit logging** for enterprise environments
## Enterprise Networking and Integration
Supports both **Gigabit Ethernet** and **Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)** with 2x2 MIMO, plus **Bluetooth 5.0** for peripheral connectivity. USB connectivity includes two USB 3.0 host ports, one USB 3.0 OTG port, and one USB 2.0 port. The device is compatible with standard enterprise network configurations including proxy and firewall environments.
## Display Control
Node Mini supports **HDMI-CEC** for controlling consumer TVs over the HDMI cable — power on/off, input switching, volume, and brightness. This makes Node Mini a good fit for deployments that use consumer displays (lobbies, meeting rooms, waiting rooms, retail back-of-house) where a commercial display's RS-232 port is not available. HDMI-CEC is exclusive to Node Mini within the Node family; Node Pro does not support CEC.
For **commercial displays and projectors** that expose an RS-232 control port, Node Mini also supports serial communication through **USB-to-serial adapters** (RS-232/RS-485), which can be used for display control and other integrations.
## Offline Playback and Global CDN
Thanks to **local content caching** and integration with TelemetryOS's **global content delivery network (CDN)**, the Node Mini continues displaying scheduled content even during internet outages. This ensures maximum uptime and a seamless viewer experience.
